Because art therapy uses more than words, it can make a real difference to how you approach life, and the different emotions you experience.
Art therapy is a process of using creative expression in many different forms with the aim to support your journey towards healing and wholeness. The act of creating something and engaging with your imagination can bring a level of self-awareness, insight and personal change that may not be as accessible to the person in more traditional forms of psychotherapy .
Are you:
living with anxiety and depression?
managing chronic heath or pain conditions?
experiencing grief & loss?
living with trauma?
experiencing relationship challenges?
processing changes in your life?
managing stress?
a care giver?
wanting to explore more of life and live more creatively?
Then art therapy is for you!
At Hope Art Therapy we offer a caring and compassionate service to adults and children who have a range of needs.
These include anxiety and depression, grief and loss and family/relationship issues. We also work with people with autism, disabilities and behavioural issues.
Art therapy is a relational process. You will have a companion to look at things together with. Each session is flexible and follows your needs.
There is no such thing as a typical session! Each session's goals and themes will dictate what art approaches are used in the session.
Each session begins with a time of checking in, where we talk about what has been happening for you and what you might want to explore. We will then use different creative arts materials and practices to continue the conversation.
This might include drawing, painting, making objects, sculpting with clay, making a story in sand, or using other natural materials. Or you could simply use words, gesture and movement. It is more about process than results. The different materials can help you find a voice to express something more clearly, to understand more deeply, to find a new perspective.
The therapist works with all ages and will adjust the sessions appropriately. Group, couple and family sessions are also available.
